Our Story
EIGHTLUX was founded by Matt Hedesh, the photographer behind Studio Barakat, after photographing more than 800 proposals across Australia.
That number is where this whole thing started. Standing a metre away from hundreds of the most important moments of people's lives, hidden behind a hedge or a long lens, you see everything, what works, what goes wrong, and how often a genuinely good plan is the only thing separating a beautiful proposal from a stressful one.
I watched confident men turn to nerves. I saw last-minute panic over rings, weather, timing, and what to actually say. And I noticed the same thing every time: almost nobody plans a proposal with any help, because unlike a wedding, there's no planner, no template, and no one to ask. That is the gap EIGHTLUX was built to fill.
EIGHTLUX is built on a simple belief: everyone deserves to propose with confidence, meaning, and calm. The moment you ask "Will you marry me?" is one of the most important of your life, and you should get to be fully present for it, not managing logistics in your head.
So this is the tool I wish every couple I photographed had before the day. A step-by-step platform that takes the guesswork out of planning, while keeping the moment unmistakably yours, from the first idea through the ring, the location, the timing, the words, and the backup plan.
